  • Visit sites in The Rocks where Māori have lived, loved, traded, visited and worked since 1793.
  • See Māori taonga (treasured objects) found on a local archeological site and now exhibited at The Rocks Discovery Museum
  • Walk down Māori Lane
  • Hear waiata (Māori song) and intriguing stories of Māori in Sydney …visiting Māori chiefs, kidnappings, trade - and much much more!

  • Poihākena Tours run one Saturday a month 11am-1pm on the following dates in 2018:
    April 28th / May 19th / June 23rd / July 28th / August 25th / September 8th / October 27th / November 24th / December 29th
  • Tours depart from Campbells Cove, The Rocks (outside 27 Circular Quay West by the big tree near Campbells Cove jetty). Look out for your Māori guide who will be wearing a Poihākena Tours T-shirt or jersey.
  • Please arrive at least ten minutes before tour departure.
  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sun block, sunhat and water if it's hot, a warm jacket if it's cold and/or umbrella and jacket if it's raining or rain is forecast.
  • Tours depart in all weather conditions. Don't forget to bring your camera for shots of great views of Sydney harbour and little-known places and features of The Rocks.
  • Available for individuals, families, school & tour groups (minimum booking 10 people or equivalent price)
